Writing
Writing
Write to instruct, not to impress. A college professor taught me that, and it guides my approach to writing. I strive for clear, succinct sentences and am skilled at writing to audiences of different educational levels. I’ve developed a passion for digging deep into complex subjects, then “drilling down” to craft straightforward messages that communicate the need-to-know information to lay audiences.
I specialize in instructional/technical content but have experience writing a wide range of copy, including:
- Magazine articles
- Editorial and advertorial supplements
- Annual reports
- Enewsletters
- White papers
- Website copy
- Promotional and educational brochures
- Conference session descriptions
- PowerPoint presentations
- Custom/sponsored content
Publications I’ve written for include:
- FireRescue
- FirefighterNation.com
- JEMS (Journal of Emergency Medical Services)
- Law Officer
- Healthcare Executive
Interviewing
Good writing starts with listening. I craft compelling questions to draw out the most interesting angles in a story, then let the conversation take us to places I hadn’t necessarily anticipated. I’m skilled at interviewing multiple subject matter experts and combining their viewpoints into concise, informative content.
Ghostwriting
If you’re a subject matter expert but don’t have the time or inclination to write, I can interview you and create a document that sounds like you and shares the information you’re looking to convey. I have experience ghostwriting for CEOs and other senior executives.
